Another big change for us. March 27, 2017 15:31

Here we go again, more big news.

This time we are announcing that we are closing our BlueBird store on Parsons Street.  Wayne will still be selling his furniture etc from Church Lane and via his website but I (Denise) am completely retiring from retail. I did intend carrying on with BlueBird for longer but the commitment to having a physical shop is huge and we have been approached by someone wanting to lease it from us so I have taken the opportunity to say farewell.

The good news is that you can now come and grab a bargain.  We are clearing the stock on Buy 1 Get 1 Free, mix and match whatever you want, cheapest item free. Handbags, Scarves, Jewellery, Purses, Hats and Gloves.  It is all included so come and stock up or get yourself organised and bulk buy some birthday presents.

Latest news end July '16 July 28, 2016 14:10

So as usual the time is just flying past. Work has pretty much finished at Fifth Corner Church Lane and we now have just warehouse facilities there. Watch out for further developments re the old front of the shop though, some exciting ideas coming through.

At BlueBird Parsons Street we are coming to the end of Spring Summer 16 and have already taken delivery of two large Autumn Winter 16 jewellery orders from Dansk and Hultquist.  Some of the Dansk is already on the shop floor and available to purchase, Hultquist is being displayed from Friday 29th onwards with a full website launch planned for both at the beginning August when I finally get access to the product images.

Last weekend I was at one of my favourite trade shows in London and I placed a few more orders which will start to arrive towards the end of August.  Lots of lovely wraps, ponchos, hats and gloves etc. I certainly won't be cold this winter!

Latest news 13th July 2016 July 13, 2016 12:04

So here we go again with more big news.

Earlier this year we were celebrating 21 years of trading as Fifth Corner and we hope you enjoyed our little pop up cafe offering our customers free tea coffee with a slice of cake as a way of thanking you.

Now we are announcing that we are closing the doors to Fifth Corner in Church Lane although we will still both be there daily operating our online business. We have both thoroughly enjoyed our time serving the wonderful customers of Banbury but now we want to step back a bit and free up some of our time before our children leave home. The next couple of weeks will be spent improving our website which up until now has only served as an example of the products that we sell, we need to get the full selection available for you to see.

Delivery is still free over £10 on the gift lines and furniture delivery prices vary but are very reasonable for local deliveries.

You can also choose click and collect on your order to have it sent to our other store BlueBird Parsons Street for collection.

Don't forget that we are always here and you can contact us really easily with any queries and you will always get a fast response.

Thank you again for all of your wonderful support over the past 21 years.

New Fifth Corner - celebrating 21years in Banbury - POP UP tea shop. April 09, 2016 16:13

So as i'm sure you are aware Fifth Corner closed in Feb for a refit.  We didn't expect to be closed for as long as we were but we finally reopened on Good Friday.

We are celebrating 21 years of trading in Banbury and wanted to thank our customers for supporting us through all of the constant changes and challenges that Banbury town centre has thrown our way.  To limit our celebrations to a one day party just didn't seem right as we wanted to involve as many people as possible. The idea to offer a pop up tea room seemed like the perfect solution.

We have now incorporated a food counter and small seating area into the shop so that you can join us for a cuppa and a slice of cake.

If you make a purchase make sure you collect a voucher for a FREE hot drink that you can use straight away or within a month.

We have freshly baked cakes available every day (victoria sponge is my favourite), we offer Teapig teas and freshly ground coffee.

Come in and join us for a friendly drink and snack surrounded by all of our lovely new gift and home accessories ranges.

We still stock all of our favourite ranges of gifts and cards and have lots of new items arriving every week.

Thanking you again,

Wayne & Denise

What's going on? January 14, 2016 15:41

If you are wondering what is going on and why the website is not making sense it's because we are closing for a couple of weeks in February to have a refit.

We will be back open as quickly as possible, while we are closed though you can still contact via Facebook or Twitter or the website.

Both of us will still be in the shop everyday so we can still help.

Thank you for your patience,

Denise & Wayne

Where does the time go? October 17, 2015 16:09

So yet again there has been a huge gap between blog posts. It's not that I forget to talk to you we just get so busy with life!

Over the Summer Fifth Corner and BlueBird have attended lots of lovely trade shows and sourced some gorgeous new products for both shops which have now started to arrive.

I (Denise) generally spend all of my time in BlueBird now and am really enjoying getting to know a whole new set of customers and also new products. We have started to get in lots of new Autumn Winter designs, our ever popular scarves are obviously thicker and warmer, we have gorgeous wraps/jackets in the shop right now and soon our hats and gloves will be arriving.

Fifth Corner has welcomed new designs from their leading suppliers such as East Of India, Jellycat, Bright Side etc. This week sees the personalised Christmas stands arrive, every year these are a popular line and this year it is a whole new product which i'm sure will be well received.

Feels like Christmas March 12, 2015 13:43

Well I have started to get all of the stock delivered for the grand opening. I am very pleased to have secured some really lovely brands for exclusivity in Banbury. Jewellery will include Orli, Envy and Hultquist which are all confirmed, I'm also meeting with one more supplier tomorrow (Friday) so I will hopefully have another one to announce too. There are already lots of patterned scarves and I'm hoping to find some more plain designs and cotton scarves. The bags and purses are looking good, a fantastic selection has already arrived from Disaster Designs (a personal favourite of mine for years), we have Mirabelle from Santoro and some really nice every day bags.
If you have a brand that you would like to see in Banbury please let me know and I can look into it.
Hopefully we will have an opening date soon and also some images to start sharing with you, watch this space.

Exciting news. March 06, 2015 17:08

Finally I can let you all in on my exciting news. Following the recent closure of Kt-Lus I am very pleased to announce that I will be opening a ladies accessories boutique in the now empty shop at 17-18 Parsons Street. I will be stocking a selection of handbags, purses, jewellery, scarves and ladies gifts.
The 'I' that I refer to is myself Denise. 20 years ago I opened Fifth Corner in the very same location, 17-18 Parsons Street Banbury. I had recently bought my first home and I had a real passion for sourcing unusual home accessories and soft furnishings, Banbury supported my new business and Fifth Corner grew and grew. After a successful 7 years I took a back seat at Fifth Corner and handed over the reigns to Wayne  whom you are all probably more familiar with, we had two lovely children and life became very hectic. Now those two children are older and will both soon be at secondary school, that leaves me ready to take on another challenge. When I heard that Fay was not renewing her lease I was so excited, this had to be a sign that I was meant to return to where it all began.
I don't get the keys until later in March but I know there will be tears when I step over the threshold again. I have already secured some fantastic exclusive brands for BlueBird and cannot wait to share them with you all. I know Banbury will be supportive as it always is and I will make sure in return that I give the local ladies what they deserve.

Hope you like it! February 11, 2015 20:17

I hope you all like our new website, we are really excited about it and I think we might finally be able to keep you up to date with our new stock as it arrives. Keep checking back for new items being added regularly.
